Desert Accounting & Business Support (DABS) is seeking an Accountant (full time).

DABS is a not-for-profit organisation based in East Perth providing a comprehensive outsourced Human Resources, Payroll and Accounting service to Indigenous organisations and other organisations providing Native Title services, Indigenous Health and Community services, and Ranger programs in remote WA.

As an Accountant you will need to be resourceful, adaptable, innovative, work with and contribute to developing new ideas and approaches whilst managing changing priorities. This is a varied role, and you will be fundamental in delivering Accounting to several allocated clients.

Primary Objectives

• Provide high level Accountant function for nominated clients

• Implement systems, policies and practices to support client relationships and service provision

• Day to day supervision, training and support to Finance Officers and junior employees

• Provide support to the Senior Finance Manager and Chief Finance Officer

• Contribute to the organisation’s commitment to continuous improvement

• Travel to the client’s location as requested

• Participate in special projects and teams (as directed)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement client related systems, policies and practices to support client relationships and service provision

• Maintain the General Ledger and Financial Records to facilitate on time, accurate Financial Reporting

• Manage the accounts receivable activity for the nominated client including debt collection and regular follow up

• In conjunction with the Human Resources team and Finance Officer, ensure appropriate inputs are provided and payroll is processed, appropriately posted and reconciled

• Assist with fixed asset purchases and maintenance of the asset register including depreciation journals and write-offs

• Prepare PAYG and GST reports, IAS and BAS reports, plus annual FBT returns

• Day to day supervision of Finance team.

Background, Experience and Personal Attributes

• IPA, CA or CPA qualification;

• Substantial and demonstrable experience and skills in accounting.

• Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing a team.

• Well-developed written and communication skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of people related matters

• Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to support productive working relationships whilst aligning to the organisation’s strategic direction.
